As part of the Innovation Union, one of the European Flagship Initiatives, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) holds several Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs). The Sustainability Support and Information Centre (SSIC) is an acceleration and validation project within the KIC Raw Materials, coordinated by Ghent University, with more than 15 partners including core partners such as CML, ENEA, VTT, Tecnalia, KULeuven, TUDelft, TNO, Ecoinnovazione, Wuppertal Institute, GEUS, DG JRC, ISM Bordeaux, IVL and VITO. The main objective of this Network of Expertise is to support industry, technology developers and policy makers in the sustainable design of products and services within the circular economy. For this, we provide a toolbox of methods and expertise on Sustainability Assessment and Life Cycle Management. A strong focus of the SSIC is horizontal integration within and outside the EIT.
On this webpage, our services, strengths and support are offered through the network especially within the context of raw materials, recycling, substitution, circular economy and several within several applications such as manufacturing, the mining industry, etc.
While looking for opportunities to strengthen the consortium by networking and linking to other initiatives, fostering collaborative projects with the SSIC and external partners, the consortium adds through a multidisciplinary approach in making raw materials value chains a major strength for Europe.
